Medical Director
Board-Certified Pain Relief Specialist

George H. Drakes, MD
“I can’t think of anything I’d rather do day in, day out, than help people get out of pain.”

Just following a family tradition

“I am a doctor today due to the strong emphasis my family placed on healthcare when I was growing up. My parents always promoted healthy living, and our family library was stocked with medical books that I began reading when I was 9 years old. And when I was 13, I started enrolling in first-aid, lifesaving and healthcare classes.

“My sister Lilia was the first member of my family to go into medicine, and she became a midwife. Then my brother Duan received his MD and went on to become a cardiovascular surgeon. In fact, it was Duan who provided me with the final motivation to become a doctor. After he became one, he ‘dared’ me to become a doctor, too, because he knew the field of medicine had always fascinated me since I was a youth. And so I took his dare and I’m glad I did. I can’t think of anything I’d rather do for a living than help people get out of pain.”
